Therapy

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), is a type of therapy designed to help people who struggle with intense emotions, self-destructive behaviours, and difficulties in relationships. DBT is based on the idea that people can learn to live in a more effective way by accepting their emotions while also developing new skills and coping strategies to manage them.

DBT is a highly effective treatment that has been shown to be particularly helpful for people with borderline personality disorder (BPD), but it can also be beneficial for anyone who experiences intense emotions and struggles with relationships. The therapy combines elements of individual therapy, group therapy, and skills training to help people build a more fulfilling life.

If you're someone who has struggled with intense emotions or self-destructive behaviours, DBT can provide you with the tools you need to better manage your emotions and build healthier relationships. By learning how to tolerate and regulate your emotions, you can experience greater stability, self-awareness, and a sense of control over your life.

Therapy

COGNITIVE BehaviourAL Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), is a type of talk therapy that helps people deal with problems by changing how they think and act. It's based on the idea that our thoughts can affect how we feel and behave. For example, imagine you have a fear of public speaking; with CBT, a therapist would help you develop more positive and realistic thoughts. As you practice these new thoughts, this is positively reflected in one's behaviour.

CBT is all about setting goals and finding practical ways to achieve them. It's not exclusively related to talking about your problems; it's actively working to change them. You might also learn techniques to manage your feelings, like relaxation exercises or deep breathing which may help you stay calm in challenging situations. Over time, CBT helps people gain control over their thoughts and behaviours, making it a powerful tool for managing issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. It's like learning a new set of skills to handle life's challenges in a more positive and effective way.
